1st Review and Planning Meeting
Addis Ababa, 20-23 May 2013
Background
The Livestock and Fish CRP Annual Review and Planning Meeting (ARPM) will be held from the morning of Monday 20th May to midday on Wednesday 22nd May 2013. Held at the ILRI Campus, Addis Ababa, the meeting follows directly on from the ILRI Annual Program Meeting (15th to 17th May) and the L&F CRP Program Planning & Management Committee ( PPMC: 19th May).
The ARPM offers an opportunity to assess what we have done, identify key learning and use this to identify new actions to improve our work. It will result in the identification of specific actions to assure progress towards revising our draft Intermediate Development Outcomes (IDOs) and Results Strategy Framework, to become clearer on our targets, and review our major initiatives (‘big project’ ideas) for the next CRP cycle in 2015-2017.
These results will feed directly into the upcoming L&F CRP engagement with donors and external stakeholders to discuss targets, theory of change, impact pathways and indicators for definition and prioritization of CRP-level IDOs, to be held in Montpellier, France, June 27- 28, 2013. Starting with a review of where we are, and what we have achieved so far, we will engage in cross center discussion to identify key issues that we must address, specific ways ahead for the program.
Much has been done, and there is a lot to celebrate. We have broken new ground to become players of growing importance in some of our chains, and have been welcomed for our new development market position. Our donors have displayed high confidence in us, and today we face the prospect of being over-subscribed. We live among high expectation, a fact that also creates a challenge.
Our journey has also sometimes been contentious. There have been different expectations about the roles each of us must play, different understanding about who is responsible for what, and sometimes frustration when things do not move or when the demands of our matrix seem to overwhelm. The ARPM has been designed to consolidate understanding, buy-in and commitment across CRP L&F programme actors and stakeholders, strengthen relationships, and foster a culture of open communication and trust. We will do this with both internal and some external actors and partners.
